School Days

Hello Everyone!!!

Before I get started, I'd like to wish my mother-in-law a very happy birthday!!! We love you Grammie and hope you have a wonderful day!

Next, I'd like to continue to send our love, thoughts and prayers to everyone in Texas and Louisiana who are dealing with such devastation brought on by Harvey. Times like these make me so much more appreciative of the life that I have with all my loved ones.

Now, let's talk to about this girl. I can't believe how big she has gotten. Some of the things Rian says just crack me up! She is funny and she is silly and I just can't get enough of her!!!

Her "My Little Pony" hair!

She spent the last few days before school enjoying herself and having fun!

So does anyone else have an alarm set up as complicated as this?!? Haha! This is no joke!!! (And yes, I have an alarm set to go get donuts on Sunday!)

Rian's first school chalkboard appearance!

Rian as a Preschooler:
Favorite color: Pink
Favorite food: Tomatoes and Chicken McNuggets...which is funny since she only eats them half the time she orders them
She wants to be a mommy and take care of babies when she grows up
Loves her pink kitty toy
Hates spiders

So her first day of school started out a little rough. She didn't want to get dressed, refused to wear the dress she picked out the night before, repeatedly asked for an imaginary dress she doesn't own, and flat out refused to brush her hair. However, I managed to run my fingers through her hair and brush her teeth even though she insisted that her teeth were clean. (Pink kitty toy in tow) Things gradually got better as the morning continued, thank God!!!

Things have been looking up since then. Her hair is brushed and she was so excited to show off her MLP ponytail...

...and her water bottle on the side of her backpack like Rory does it!

So proud of these two. (Please ignore my poor palm. :0( I definitely cannot keep plants alive.)

Rory is so over taking front yard photos, but Rian's sweet little smile, snuggling up to Rory. Oh the perks of having a little sister!

Rian, smile! Insert matching eye roll from me.

She was so cute sitting at the little table and chairs.

Showing off the lunch boxes!

Rian loves school, but our new routine has her napping so hard. Like every day hard.

OK Rory is totally my kid. He was asked to list place nouns... Haha!!!

His homework is so much easier (for me) this year now that it's all done on the computer. But seriously, does the homework actually know us! A green VW bus?!? Are you kidding me?!?

Homework time!!!

Some of Rian's work from her first week of school.

Rory was at school during the solar eclipse... The kids weren't allowed to go outside in order to ensure they would not look directly at the sun, so they watched it on Youtube!

We however, viewed the partial eclipse with Randy's welding helmet. It was awesome. It looked like a green crescent moon.

So grabbing your toys was important, but putting your pants on was not?!?

Well that's all for now. I have a phone appointment with a pretty little lady (my Nana!) I must get to!!! Thanks for stopping by!

Rory's a 2nd Grader!!!

As Rory would say, "Really! It's true!"

Rory as a 2nd Grader:
Favorite color: green
Favorite Food: Salt & Vinegar chips...the kids call them spicy chips!
He wants to be a scientist, street sweeper driver and recycling truck driver
Loves Mario Kart
Hates spiders, wasps, snakes and scorpions.

In preparation for today, our dining room table became back-to-school central with new school clothes, backpacks, and classroom supplies. All of Rory's classroom supplies were all packed up for drop off at his teacher Meet & Greet on Friday, when we were ready to leave and then this happened...

...A monsoon storm rolled in and it began to pour.

The kids were waiting out the storm, watching our backyard begin to flood.

Eventually the storm passed and we headed to school. He was happy to meet his new teacher.

And he was excited to see which friends were in his class.

Rian thought we were now going to her classroom. Umm, yeah. Rian, you're not going here just yet. One more year Chica!!!

Showing off his new shirts and hat. All green, like every year before!!!

And there is nothing like a pair of new shoes!!!

The Batman Lego Movie is one of his current obsessions right now. So it was no surprise he asked for these.

My absolute favorite photo from this morning. Total mom-photo fail at its best!!! "Mom! I can't see! The sun is in my eyes!!!" Even with squinting eyes and a scrunched face, he is still so cute.

Ok a little better. :0)

Heading to school.

I love these walks up to school.

The bell rang shortly after I took this picture, so he gave us quick hugs and kisses and we sent him into school. We are so proud of him and know he will do well this year!!!

And now on to this. This invitation addressed to Rian arrived this weekend. This week has started with sending Rory off to second grade and will be ending with Rian visiting her new preschool class.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! I know ours will be filled with making new memories and friends, adjusting to a new schedule and settling in to a new phase in our lives. As always, thank you for stopping by!

xoxo
