It's been way too long since I've been on here. Time is flying by way faster than I could've ever imagined. And now we're deep into summer and I'm barely getting around to sharing our end of the school year festivities. So let's just dive right in...
Rory was awarded Student "Explorer" of the Month toward the end of the school year for Good Citizenship. I was blown away when his teacher awarded him by saying:
"Rory has been awarded this award for always showing everyone in our class and at our school what good citizenship looks like! He does a great job remembering to follow the school rules and he can always be counted on to be respectful and responsible. Rory works diligently to complete all his activities. In addition, he has a generous spirit and his compassion for others shows in how he is always willing to share with his classmates and how he consistently treats everyone with kindness."
This was definitely a very proud moment for Randy and myself.
He is painfully shy when he is showered with any kind of attention. So while he is proud of himself, he is still learning to physically show his self-pride.
Rory also got to be a part of the morning announcements that same day. Rory was instructing the students to raise their hands to signal that it was time for students to stop talking and begin listening. How cute is Rian following along?
Rory has so much school pride and he was very excited to help lead the student body in morning announcements!
Teacher appreciation/end of the school year gifts for the kiddos' teachers.
Seriously, how cute are these pineapple drink containers?!?
At the end of the year award ceremony, Rory was acknowledged for all his hard work with the A/B Honor Roll!!! (Sorry the pic is a little blurry, but our seats were so far away and I had to zoom in,)
Remember when I mentioned that Rory is very uncomfortable with public attention? Yeah this was agony for him... And it showed. He was the first student in his class to be awarded and had to stand on the stage by himself until the other students joined him.
So proud!!! Great job Rory!!!
My favorite self portrait that Rory has ever drawn. He is finally embracing his reddish-brown hair and I love the freckles.
I know this picture is a little hard to decipher, but please bare with me because I'll explain it and hopefully you'll why I love it so much. So here we go:
It starts with Mount Rushmore on the left (He loves learning about US presidents, especially George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.), yellow shield for the police and a green toothbrush for the dentist, an iPhone and iPad for the Apple Store, a red H for The Habit (one of mine and Rory's favorite places to eat!), shopping cart for the market, yellow star for the Army (He says the army, but I think he means the air force, since we have an air force base here in Vegas.), red bullseye (Target, duh!), blue cross for church, red cross for the hospital, a farm/barn, a pond and thee cutest picnic table I have ever since!!! This is his entire life and all the things he loves all wrapped up in one school assignment (except maybe the farm/barn).
Now onto Rian. This was one for my favorite pieces of school work she brought home. And it was a good thing I took a picture of it because the goldfish crackers did not last very long. They cracked and crumbled off as soon as I put it away with the rest of her school work. Oops!
Last day as a preschooler and a 2nd grader. Yes Rory is wearing his swim clothes. The last day was water field day at school.
I volunteered at this event so I didn't get many pictures.
Thumbs up to another successful school year. Let me introduce you to our kindergartener and 3rd grader.
I hope you enjoyed a quick look back at our end of the school year activities. It has been amazing watching these two learn and grown with each new day, month and school year.
xoxo
