Wow! It's been a great few days. With my birthday last week and Mother's Day this past weekend, I've got A LOT to share!!!
First up: My Birthday!!!
My "log" birthday ice cream cake as Rory calls it. A candle to represent each of us.
I lovvvveee this paper Rory picked out for my gifts. "Mom do you know why I picked out this paper?" "
Why?" "Because it had hearts on it and I love you!" Rory can make me cry at moments notice with his sweetness. His kindness and thoughtfulness towards others is overwhelming some times.
A little birthday love.
An early birthday dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Cucos!!!
The cake was so good that Rory had to lie down!!! Haha!
Rian gave it a thumbs up!
So remember in my last post when I mentioned that this was a birthday I'd never forget?!? Well get ready to find out why...
So all of the festivities above happened the day before my actual birthday because of Randy's work schedule. My birthday was going to be low key and easygoing hanging out with the kiddos. And that's exactly how it started, until around one o'clock when I decided to take our kitchen recycling outside to the cans that are on the side of our house, only accessible by the front door. No big deal, I do this all the time and sometimes our dogs will go out front with me. And this time as I was walking back to the front door I saw our Maggie walk out front. She followed me in, I put the empty kitchen can back under the sink and that was that! So I thought...
...After a few minutes, I noticed I hadn't seen our Pinky. I called for her, nothing. The kids called for her, nothing. We ran up and down the stairs, running into every room calling for her, nothing. We ran to the backyard, nothing. We offered carrots (the dogs love carrots), nothing. We ran out front and walked up and down the street thinking she had gone out when I took the recycling out, nothing. We ran back into the house franticly screaming for her opening up closet doors, nothing. We then jumped into my car and began to drive around our neighborhood calling for her, and asking anyone we spotted if they had seen her, nothing. By now Rory was sobbing, worried we would not find her. We drove up and down every street in our neighborhood and nothing, so I sent the dreaded text to Randy that she was missing and I couldn't find her :0( Meanwhile Rory heartbroken, praying as hard as he can and Rian yelling "Pinky where are you? I can't find you!" over and over, I decided that we needed to go home. This was not like our Pinky to wonder around the neighborhood. She sticks to our side
always. And even though it was my reaction to look for outside, I never saw her actually go out front with Maggie. Something Maggie did when I brought the can back to the kitchen made me open the cabinet under the sink, and when I did and removed the empty recycling can, out came Pinky!!! She had been trapped in the kitchen cabinet for about 45 minutes! Oh my gosh the best birthday ever! I was and am so grateful that she was home safe the whole time. By the time it was all over she had our entire neighborhood looking for her and a neighbor's Facebook post dedicated to finding her. So when Randy got home and asked where I wanted to continue the birthday festivities for dinner, I blurted out "Pizza! Let's order pizza and stay home. Our family is all together safe and happy and that's all that matters!" And that's exactly what we did, pizza and the Dodger game...a birthday I'll never forget.
Thanks God for the lesson on what's really important in life!!!
Now on to Mother's Day!
Here are just a few of my favorite Mother's Day photos that my friend, Alyson took a couple of weeks ago at Spring Mountain Ranch. Thanks Alyson!!!
I decided to create a little something for some of the mothers in my family for Mother's Day. I put a handful of Hershey chocolate kisses and chocolate hugs in a small clear bag with a ribbon and tag. I love this because it can be altered to fit any occasion. It can even be changed for Father's Day or for Grads...
Hugs, Kisses and Celebration Wishes.
My Mother's Day gifts from the kiddos!!! I absolutely love my "breakfast" that Rory made me at school.
And my pink bus with shower gels and body lotions! So cute!!! Maybe Randy will resort a pink bus for me after he's done with his bus?!? ;0)
That's right! We packed it up that morning and headed to SoCal to spend some time with family. Every time I start packing I start singing in my head "I'm going, going, back, back to Cali, Cali!" Haha!
The ritual of the car selfie continues while Randy gets gas.
When your brother falls asleep and you have to entertain yourself...
Pretending to be asleep.
Secrets between a Great-Grandmother and a Great-Granddaughter!
Thumbs up from them both on the doughnuts Tia Jackie!!!
Her swan dive needs a little work! Haha!
Too much swimming for this little girl.
Three generations. I'm so lucky to have them both :0)
Nana selfies are the best!!!
Movie time with cousins.
Haha! Nana's watching the movie too!
Yup she's still out!
Too much fun! Haha!
Because Papa's phone
needs to be bedazzled?!?
Four helicopters circling above because the next morning a baby bear,
yes bear, had made it's way down from the foothills and somehow onto the freeway where he was accidentally hit by a car and was hiding in the embankment next to the freeway.
My mom and I decided to go on a little adventure to see if we could get a closer look at this baby bear.
Standing on the opposite side of the freeway at the overpass, the baby bear is hiding in the embankment between the emergency vehicles and that house.
Yeah, see those clouds overhead?^^^ As we turned to walk back to the car a few blocks away, the clouds opened up and poured rain and hail on us. Mom yelling "I'm soaked!"
What an adventure!!!
The kids wanted to go swimming. Sorry kiddos not today!
She has always emptied out boxes and bins to sit in them. And I don't know why!
Heading back home...this is what happens when a semi-truck rear ends a cement mixing truck resulting in traffic at a stand still because the semi-truck had a smashed front end and a lost axel and the cement mixer dumping concrete all over the highway.
To my mother-in-law who we missed on this trip. We will see you in a few weeks and make up for lost time. We love you!
A huge thank you to everyone who help me celebrate my birthday and Mother's Day, thank you for all the well wishes, cards and gifts. I am truly blessed!!!
xoxo
