One of my favorite "outtakes"...
It's so tiring taking photos. I don't get paid enough for this!!!

A birthday party fit for our little girl. :0)
Rian chose her party theme this year, and after scrolling through pinterest, she landed on the vintage Barbie silhouette. That evolved into a very girly pink and black party perfect for her and her girlfriends.
Thanks Mama for helping me put all the food together! (Actually, thanks for helping me pull the whole party together.) You're the best!

The goodie bags contained a pink nail polish, a mini nail file, lip gloss and hershey kisses chocolate candies. The girls also took home a necklace, a bracelet and heart sunglasses from the dress up table.
And of course I made a piñata for her party...A pull piñata to be exact. (My instructions can be found here on how to make a piñata.)
Here are the photos of the making of the piñata:
This will eventually become a tube of lipstick!
I paper mached the top of the big one before I secured the small one on top of it. The big one will eventually be black and silver, while the small one will be silver. (I originally was planning on making a traditional piñata, so I created a small flap and opening to insert the goodies. But I ultimately decided to make a pull piñata since Rian does not like hitting them. I removed the flap and paper mached over the opening.)
Let the paper mache-ing begin!
I forgot to take a photo before I started paper mache-ing. I made the top of the lipstick by taping a row of cardboard together and rolling it into a tube. I then inserted it into the opening of the middle section before I let go of it. I taped the tube with packaging tape once the tube had a snug fit. I then trimmed the top of the tube at an angle to create the slant of the lipstick. (I originally secured a loop for hanging, but it wasn't going to be strong enough once the piñata was filled. You can see how that problem was solved a few photos down. Hint: Randy is a genius!)
You can see the flap door that I created for the bottom for the pull piñata. Looking back, I would have paper mached the flap door with black construction paper instead of the white printer paper because the flap door didn't get covered in streamer paper like the rest of the piñata. I covered it in the black construction so that it would lay flat, then punched holes in it. I secured pull strings on the inside of the flap door for Rian and her friends to pull.
Randy suggested that I drill holes and insert drywall anchors and screws into the dried paper mache so that we could hang the piñata without compromising the piñata.
The streamer paper was glued on one row at a time starting at the bottom and working upward. The streamer paper covered the screws but allowed access to them when we needed to hang the piñata.
And there you have it...A lipstick piñata!!!
When I was putting together the paper dolls for the party, I couldn't find an image that fit the theme. So I found this image with a search on Google and made a few alterations. I guess I'm putting my 4 years of art classes to work between the paper dolls, and silhouette for the cake topper and pin the bow game (which were hand-drawn!).
This is the image after the alterations that seemed more appropriate for the party.

Please let me know if you have any questions. :0)
There is a certain seven year old that has already started planning his 8th birthday more than 5+ months in advance, so I guess I better get a jump on that now. Haha!!! ;0)
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great weekend!!!
