In honor of the beginning my favorite time of year, I thought I would do a run down of some of our favorites today. And you know that I'm going to start with one of my absolutely favorite things, fall + winter. September 1st through January 1st is the best time of year: cooler weather, fun activities, the festivities and family gatherings!
I'm a huge fan of our new daily routine. However, Rian is not. She is a night owl like her daddy, so our new schedule is taking some time to get use to. She's just a hot mess!
But as soon as we get home, she becomes such a ham making a kiss-y face.
Taking a selfie is one of Rian's favorite things to do
Rian's favorite: her sunnies, my favorite: her spunky attitude!
She loves stickers, and the other day she insisted on picking up Rory wearing a sticker sleeve.
And more sunnies! Picking up Rory I think is quickly becoming Rian's favorite part of her day. As we get further into the school year, leaving him every morning is getting harder and harder for her. After we say our goodbyes and exchange kisses, she starts to whine and give a little cry as he walks toward the kindergarten area. Yesterday, as we started to drive away, she asked in a very sad little voice, "Where's Rory?"
Her love of accessories doesn't stop at her sunnies. She loves bracelets and shoes, too. She turned a rainbow ring tower toy into bracelets and a "heel".
The other night while face timing with my mom, she decided to show Rian some of her bracelets. Now what my mom is showing us in the next few photos is not as important as Rian's response. Could she be any more unimpressed by my mom's bracelets?!?
And while you can't see the birthday cake that Rian tried to dig her finger into while the unknowingly birthday boy blew out his candles, you can see that she was not happy when I told her NO! Her immediate response was to throw herself onto the patio floor. Don't worry, she got her share of cake. Cake is definitely one of her favorites!
This photo says a lot: Rory's favorite way to wear his hair, flat as a pancake, his headphones that look just like these that allow him to watch his favorite videos on the iPad as loud as he wants, and that this shirt came in a package from my parents. He loves to get mail or packages!
Rory's obsessed with eating healthy and living a healthy life. He talks about what he eats and what activities he does that keep him healthy. One of his favorite things is to show Randy and me how much he grew overnight while he was sleeping and point out his big muscles.
"Mommy, this baby is so strong!"
My mom sent me this photo. Im guessing I'm about three years old. I love to see old photos and I've never seen this one prior to my mom sending it.
And I can't pass up a side-by-side...or two!
Family time is a big favorite of ours. Family game night = a Candy Land battle
Family reading time. Rory is doing fantastic with his reading. He received a package in the mail last week with a few new Lego books. We think they are from our Christmas elf, Ralphie ;O) .
And who could pass up snuggle time?!? I love me some snuggle time! I think Pinky was annoyed that I was taking an us-ie with her. She doesn't mess around when it comes to naps.
How cute are these two!
I had to include this photo. If you've read past blog posts, you know that Rory doesn't sleep like most. His head is rarely on a pillow with his feet at the foot of the bed. We constantly hear him kicking the wall because he is laying horizontal in his bed. I guess snuggling with his friends is a favorite of his.
My reality check
Now, I'm just going to keep things real. I try my best to keep the blog as true to real life as possible. I mean I post photos of the kids is full tantrums, unpleasant doctor visits, and all the scraps and bruises that come along with their childhood. And well, now is no exception. Let me start by saying that yesterday was a great day, but it was one challenge after another. The day started it's downward spiral sometime in the early afternoon when we found Rian in our room covered in Rory's green colored toothpaste, Hulk-style. She had taken the tube of toothpaste and lathered herself with it from head to toe. Awesome!
Then after dinner, we headed out back for some backyard fun ruckus. The constant battle of toy ownership and personal space came to a screeching halt when Rory's attempt to keep Rian's hands off his scooter ended with her flying over the armrest of the chair and face-planting onto the patio pavers. A giant knot and scrap on her forehead, fantastic!
And during her second bath of the day, Rian decided dump several cups of water onto the bathroom floor, resulting in a mini lake. Thanks Rian!
And just when I think that my night is starting to settle down, I came downstairs to this little fellow. He's probably the fourth or fifth baby lizard I've found in our house. We must be on the safe house list in the lizard community.
He must've really trusted me because I had no trouble getting him in the box.
Once I knew he was safe in the box, Rory helped me take him outside to release him. Good luck finding him in the grass. He's right next to a leaf.
Bye little guy! Thanks for stopping by. "Mommy, I miss the baby lizard." Oh the lizard you knew for only two minutes.
Well that's it for now. I'm thinking that now that it will soon be the official start of fall, I better start working on our fall bucket list! Any suggestions?!?
xoxo
