Rian 2.0: She's Back

Hiiiii!

I'm back! I'm not sure how I convinced mommy to let me blog again, but here I am! I've noticed that mommy hasn't really updated you guys on all the fun stuff that I do, so I'm here to fill you in.

I'm learning all these new words, phrases and sentences. Sometimes I'm not sure what words go together to tell mommy or daddy what I want or need. But I'm working really hard at practicing my words, as mommy says. Did you catch a little bit of sarcasm in that?!? I know mommy means well, but sometimes I just want a cup of water and I can't remember what I'm suppose to say. She doesn't really like when I whine and try and drag her to the kitchen by her hand. I know, I know, I need to use my words!!! But here is a small list of the things I say around here:

Where's Rory? Every morning I ask mommy where's Rory? I don't like when we leave him at school.

Where's daddy?

hungry

apple

na-na I'm working on getting the ba before the nana!

daddy Not, dada, Daddy!

mommy It comes out nonnie because I can't quite say the M sound

mama I say it nonna {see previous word explanation ^^^}

night-night

downstairs

upstairs

smoothie It comes out smoo-tee

love you It sounds like uv you.

I'm sorry I say I sorry, I sorry, I sorry if I really mean it. But if I don't, then I just say sorry.

hi I know this one is super easy, but I now say it with a little attitude...hiiiiii

bye With attitude and a little head tilt

I can name a bunch of the characters from some of my favorite shows... Sofia, Cap't Hook, Daisy, Minnie, Miles

I love to sing

I  can say and identify my mouth, teeth, nose, eyes, ears, head, hand, feet and toes.

I know I'm two and will show you with my fingers.

I finally figured out that no is not always the right answer. Mommy says I put the sass in yes because I say it sess

And I pretty much say anything mommy asks me to say after her. If you ask me, she gets a little too excited. I mean what's the big deal when I say GO DODGERS!? {Oh yeah, I say that one too!}

I'm learning to count, and say the alphabet. Mommy and I count together, she says the odd numbers and I say the even ones. She thinks it pretty funny when I count the fruits and veggies at the market. She says, Let me guess there's eight apples, eight tomatoes, eight bananas and eight avocados... It's not my fault that the bins only have eights things in them. Mommy says that I should count them again. When we count together there is always way more than eight. How does she do that? I try and sing the alphabet song with Rory, but I skip a bunch of letters. Rory tells me that it's ok and I will get them one day. I take out my Elmo letters and try and name them like Rory showed me.

Little Einsteins is my favorite show. I yell Steins Steins when it comes on. I like to follow along with Leo, Annie, June and Quincy. I pat my lap with them and pretend to climb a mountain with Rocket, I answer the questions correctly and I get mad when mommy or daddy try and play along too.

Don't tell Rory, but sometimes mommy and me go to the park after we drop him off at school. I love it! Mommy only has to look after me and doesn't have to worry about where he is because he's at school. I think he'd be really sad if he knew we went to the park without him, so sometimes I make an extra craft and take it home for him. That makes him happy. He says Awe, thanks Rian! And gives me a big hug. I love when he gives me big hugs!!!

I made the pink butterfly for me and the green dragonfly for Rory

I'm not sure why, but I just love giving kisses. I love to give mommy and daddy kisses on their noses. I give Rory kisses, our doggies kisses. I'll give anyone kisses that will take them! It's just so much fun!!!

I love to dance! Mommy and daddy will put music on and we have dance parties and dance around like crazy. I like to dance to Prince's "Party Like It's 1999". My favorite move is the Carlton. Mommy just laughs and laughs when I bust that move out.

Now on to my brother. Have I told you how much I miss Rory when he's at school? He really is the best brother. He gets himself into trouble because he gets a little too crazy and wild trying to make me laugh. He makes me laugh so much! I think it's so funny when Rory and daddy do Three Stooges for me. Mommy hates Three Stooges! Let me tell you, she is missing out.

One of my favorite things to play is horse. Rory pretends to be a horse and I jump on his back and yell Giddy Up! We get a little too crazy playing around and mommy worries that I'm going to fall off and hit my head on the coffee table or TV cabinet. Maybe I need to remind mommy of her childhood wrestling days as a wannabe GLOW girl.

As much as I love Rory, I'm not too excited to have to wake up extra early on Saturdays now that he has soccer. Let me just tell you that mommy better pack me a donut if I have to get up at 7:30 in the morning! Maybe mommy will buy me some cute clothes that coordinate with Rory's soccer team colors so I can look super cute cheering for him on the sidelines. Please, we all know that I need to coordinate with his team for when I decide that I want to play soccer too and run onto the field with him. Wait. What? I'm not old enough to play soccer yet? Shhh Mommy! All my friends are playing this year, so why can't I? OK, so maybe not all my friends, but I know a lot of the players! Look at Rory with some of his soccer gear on. He's so excited to start soccer that he is always talking to mommy about it and has been counting down the days until tomorrow.

And now I hear that mommy is going to be the coach for Rory's team. Ok, let me get this straight, both mommy and Rory are playing soccer and I can't?!? I'm just going to tell you now that I'm pretty sure I'm going to throw a tantrum tomorrow about this whole thing. Mommy better pack me some awesome snacks and I better have on something cute for sure! Mommy even gets a special shirt and a cool book, that by the way, I'm not allowed to touch. Just between you and me, we all know mommy is going to need that book. I mean, have you seen her play soccer? Yeah, me neither! She said something about playing when she was five, but that was way long ago.

Rory really loves school and he's doing great! The other day his teacher gave him an award for model behavior. I'm not sure what that means but it had something to do with walking.

I think mommy is slacking on passing out awards around here because I learned to walk a long time ago and I didn't get any awards. And have you seen how cute I am?!? Now that's model behavior or whatever. Wait. What's behavior again?

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my updates. I really hope I get to come back soon. Have a great weekend everyone!

bye

Favorites + A Little Reality Check

In honor of the beginning my favorite time of year, I thought I would do a run down of some of our favorites today. And you know that I'm going to start with one of my absolutely favorite things, fall + winter. September 1st through January 1st is the best time of year: cooler weather, fun activities, the festivities and family gatherings!

I'm a huge fan of our new daily routine. However, Rian is not. She is a night owl like her daddy, so our new schedule is taking some time to get use to. She's just a hot mess!

But as soon as we get home, she becomes such a ham making a kiss-y face.

Taking a selfie is one of Rian's favorite things to do when it's just me and her in the morning anytime!

Rian's favorite: her sunnies, my favorite: her spunky attitude!

She loves stickers, and the other day she insisted on picking up Rory wearing a sticker sleeve.

And more sunnies! Picking up Rory I think is quickly becoming Rian's favorite part of her day. As we get further into the school year, leaving him every morning is getting harder and harder for her. After we say our goodbyes and exchange kisses, she starts to whine and give a little cry as he walks toward the kindergarten area. Yesterday, as we started to drive away, she asked in a very sad little voice, "Where's Rory?"

Her love of accessories doesn't stop at her sunnies. She loves bracelets and shoes, too. She turned a rainbow ring tower toy into bracelets and a "heel".

The other night while face timing with my mom, she decided to show Rian some of her bracelets. Now what my mom is showing us in the next few photos is not as important as Rian's response. Could she be any more unimpressed by my mom's bracelets?!?

And while you can't see the birthday cake that Rian tried to dig her finger into while the unknowingly birthday boy blew out his candles, you can see that she was not happy when I told her NO! Her immediate response was to throw herself onto the patio floor. Don't worry, she got her share of cake. Cake is definitely one of her favorites!

This photo says a lot: Rory's favorite way to wear his hair, flat as a pancake, his headphones that look just like these that allow him to watch his favorite videos on the iPad as loud as he wants, and that this shirt came in a package from my parents. He loves to get mail or packages!

Rory's obsessed with eating healthy and living a healthy life. He talks about what he eats and what activities he does that keep him healthy. One of his favorite things is to show Randy and me how much he grew overnight while he was sleeping and point out his big muscles.
"Mommy, this baby is so strong!"

My mom sent me this photo. Im guessing I'm about three years old. I love to see old photos and I've never seen this one prior to my mom sending it.

And I can't pass up a side-by-side...or two!

Family time is a big favorite of ours. Family game night = a Candy Land battle

Family reading time. Rory is doing fantastic with his reading. He received a package in the mail last week with a few new Lego books. We think they are from our Christmas elf, Ralphie ;O) .

And who could pass up snuggle time?!? I love me some snuggle time! I think Pinky was annoyed that I was taking an us-ie with her. She doesn't mess around when it comes to naps.

How cute are these two!

I had to include this photo. If you've read past blog posts, you know that Rory doesn't sleep like most.  His head is rarely on a pillow with his feet at the foot of the bed. We constantly hear him kicking the wall because he is laying horizontal in his bed. I guess snuggling with his friends is a favorite of his.

My reality check

Now, I'm just going to keep things real. I try my best to keep the blog as true to real life as possible. I mean I post photos of the kids is full tantrums, unpleasant doctor visits, and all the scraps and bruises that come along with their childhood. And well, now is no exception. Let me start by saying that yesterday was a great day, but it was one challenge after another. The day started it's downward spiral sometime in the early afternoon when we found Rian in our room covered in Rory's green colored toothpaste, Hulk-style. She had taken the tube of toothpaste and lathered herself with it from head to toe. Awesome!

Then after dinner, we headed out back for some backyard fun ruckus. The constant battle of toy ownership and personal space came to a screeching halt when Rory's attempt to keep Rian's hands off his scooter ended with her flying over the armrest of the chair and face-planting onto the patio pavers. A giant knot and scrap on her forehead, fantastic!

And during her second bath of the day, Rian decided dump several cups of water onto the bathroom floor, resulting in a mini lake. Thanks Rian!

And just when I think that my night is starting to settle down, I came downstairs to this little fellow. He's probably the fourth or fifth baby lizard I've found in our house. We must be on the safe house list  in the lizard community.

He must've really trusted me because I had no trouble getting him in the box.

Once I knew he was safe in the box, Rory helped me take him outside to release him. Good luck finding him in the grass. He's right next to a leaf.

Bye little guy! Thanks for stopping by. "Mommy, I miss the baby lizard." Oh the lizard you knew for only two minutes.

Well that's it for now. I'm thinking that now that it will soon be the official start of fall, I better start working on our fall bucket list! Any suggestions?!?
