So like most so to be five year old girls, Rian was and is obsessed with the Nickelodeon show Shimmer and Shine about two genies in a bottle above the starry sky. Her wish was to have a Shimmer and Shine birthday party, and like the genie mom I am, I set out to grant her birthday wish!!!
Since we were lucky to have family in town, we decided to have a little family birthday celebration for Rian on her actually birthday. Rory has become quite the baker's helper lately, so I decided he should bake Rian's cake. He made her a strawberry cake with funfetti frosting that she requested.
I added her name to his beautiful cake. It was delicious! And he did such a great job!!!
The Birthday Girl...
and the baker!!!
Presents!!!
And her big gift from us was...
...wait for it...
...wait for it...
...a skateboard!!!
She was excited for the JoJo bow she had been asking for...for months. "I want the mermaid JoJo bow please!"
Opening gifts from family...with Maggie's help.
Shimmer and Shine everything!!!
The pure happiness on her face just kills me!
I hope all your birthday wishes come true!!!
Birthday party day! Welcome to the family Dino Dude!
"Boom Zahramay! Place your wish in the genie bottle if you may"
Inside the genie bottle was a number and the lucky party guest that guessed the correct number was the winner.
Our party guests played with water guns...
...water balloons...
...our Dino Dude giant sprinkler and a bounce house.
They also make sand genie necklaces!
Candy bundles for the piñata. Instead of loose candy falling from the broken piñata, I decided to create candy bundles so that each kid got their fair share of candy.
They are ready to hit the genie bottle piñata! (I love Rian's genie moves in this pic and in the next)
Here it is before the kids took their turn hitting it! (By far the biggest piñata I've ever made)
Rian's pretty Shimmer and Shine cake!
Thank you friends for helping Rian celebrate her birthday!!!
About to open presents... this was the only photo I got because once she started it was like an explosion of ripped envelopes, tissue paper and discarded wrapping paper. Thank you to everyone for their gifts!!! (I love how Maggie is just chilling on the couch waiting with everyone)
Too much partying, Dino Dude?
OK, the making of the piñata! I use what I have, even if that means using discarded snack and cereal boxes and a beachball!
...And paper plates!!!
You can find the complete paper mache instructions here along with more detailed instructions on how to make a piñata.
Layer 1 of paper mache
I left a hole so that I could deflate the beachball and remove it.
By the way, the top portion of the bottle was created with paper cups! Like I said, I use what I've got.
Layer 2 of paper mache
And Rian felt the need to sign her piñata. As if I was making a purple and pink genie bottle piñata for another so to be five year old.
She's ready for crepe paper!
And there you have it!
Well I hope you enjoyed our little rewind of Rian's birthday. A huge thank you to our family that made the trip out here for Rian on her big weekend!!! It truly meant a lot to have you here! And another thank you to all that were able to be a part of her birthday celebrations!!! Until next time!
xoxo
