We’re March-ing Right Along

Yup, like the title says, we're marching right along right through March! The kiddos are currently on spring break so I wanted to catch you up before I start to get behind. We've had a lot of fun this month and I'm actually starting to enjoy 2018. Haha. A lot less adult-ing and a lot more fun! Yay!!!

So this kid was super excited to participate in his school's annual fun run. And many of you know that this is his absolute favorite event during the school year. Rory is head-to-toe Apex Fun Run!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that donated to his run!!! He You succeeded in helping Rory meet his goal of $300.00!!!Whoot-Whoot! (But it makes me sad to see that the school was raising money for school supplies :0(   )

At the park trying out one of his prizes and a hot air balloon took flight right behind him.

He was super excited the morning of the run....

...only to wake up to rain and wind. His run was the very last one for the day and the weather had cooperated until I got in the car to go watch him run.

So the run was postponed for 45 minutes, but in the end the tunnels went up and the run was on!

A hug for luck!

Rian and her friend watching their brothers run.

Can't miss him with the orange hat!

Rian snuggling with her friend. It was late in the afternoon and I'm sure both girls could've used a nap.

Yup! Rory you rocked it!!! 44 laps!

Afternoon picnic and kite-flying at the park.

Leprechaun trap deign family meeting.

Rory's trap

The pot of gold under a cloudy sky.

The pot of gold was my favorite part!!! :0)

Rian's trap. She insisted on pink.... shocker! I love her tiny rainbow!

Her pot of gold

2 traps, 0 leprechauns

Even the pups got in on St. Patrick's Day. (Maggie was napping with Rian's bunny, Bunny Walnut)

Green is the new pink

Spring picture day...We nailed it this time! Oh redemption feels so good!!!

Field trip day!!! Rory was so excited for his very first field trip to the children's museum (and to ride the bus for the first time).

Yup I was the creeper mom waiting by the buses to see him off. Haha!!!

And because one hematoma this year wasn't enough, I had to join Rory by dropping a small side table on my foot.

A few days laid up on the couch and some extra snuggles from my little girlies and I was fine. But I still have a nasty bruise on my foot. ***Insert me shaking my head***

Rian asked me one morning after dropping Rory off at school if she could put pajamas on. 20 minutes later I walked into my room to find her asleep on my bed.

The kids think these Lay's bags are so funny!!!

And finally, Rory had his last follow up doctor's appointment for his eye. And he is completely healed, with no vision problems and excellent hearing. (He has his mama's bat hearing! Haha!!!)

Well that's all for now. I'll be back next week with our spring break and Easter adventures!!! And we'll see some of you guys real soon!!!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Hello March

Hello There!

Well we're midway through March and I can feel the "adult-ing" slump I have been in since the beginning of the year slowly starting to slip away. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of "adult-ing" to be done, but the funk I have been in is starting to drop its' K. Haha! Maybe it's planning a bridal shower with some of my favorite people for the Jelly to my PB (more on that a little later), or maybe it's because we got to visit with some of our good friends, both near and far, or maybe it's because I got a good dose of QT with my Mommywood tribe, or maybe it's because it snowed in Vegas! I'm not really sure, but I really can't complain when it decides to snow here in the desert!!!

Imagine my surprise when it began to snow on a day when rain wasn't even in the forecast. Yippie!!!

Rian tried out her best Elsa and sang "Let It Go" while dancing in the street. The only downside to an impromptu snowfall was the fact that Rory was at school when it happened. And the school didn't let the kids go outside and experience it. Poor Rory was so sad that he missed it.

I however enjoyed every moment of it. I stayed outside for the whole two hours! I wasn't going to miss a second of our winter wonderland. Although it came down hard, it wasn't cold enough for it to stick, so no snowman-building for us.

Maggie was wiped out after her walk in the snow. (And yes she has a snow vest!)

So with February almost in the books, Nevada Reading Week was kicked off at Rory's school. The week was filled with themed days to help celebrate the many, many types of books that the kids enjoy. If you haven't figured out by now, I really love themed weeks at school. It so fun to see what we can come up with for each day/theme and it makes the week go by way faster than normal weeks.

Monday was Star Wars Day to celebrate A Voyage to the Stars. Star Wars jacket and shirt!

Tuesday was A Voyage to the Deep Blue Sea and the kids wore blue shirts. And since Rory didn't have a solid blue shirt, he wore a dark blue shirt with a lizard on it. Sometimes you just gotta make do with what you have. I didn't get a picture of Rory that day, but if you are absolutely dying to see what shirt he wore, he's wearing it in this post towards the bottom, at the movies.

Tuesday also began an evening activity called Get Caught Reading. Rory pledged to the school that for three days (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) he would read for at least 30 minutes each day. During this pledge time, school administrators were calling the students to catch them reading. On Tuesday the principal called Rory and he was caught reading! He got a special prize at school the next day. He was so excited that the principal called our house to talk to him!!!

Wednesday was A Voyage to Magical Places and the kids dressed up as their favorite book character. Rory wanted to be Dog Man. So with some yellow construction paper, a black marker, a dark blue sharpie, painters tape (to hide part of the L on his Dodgers hat), and double-sided tape, Rory was ready to become his favorite book character!

Dog Man!

Rory also likes the author Ron Roy who writes A-Z Mysteries, Calendar Mysteries and Capital Mysteries. He checks these books out at the school library for his weekly readings. And I really love reading these books with him too!

Thursday was A Voyage Back in Time and the kids wore Vegas Golden Knights apparel, or the Knights colors of black or gold. Rory wore a black long sleeve and again, I didn't take a photo. But he got to go to an assembly that had a Golden Knights player and the team mascot. He thought it was pretty cool.

Friday was A Voyage to the World of Seuss. And to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday, the kids dressed up as a Dr. Seuss character. Which means, Lorax made his second appearance! This year he got a little bit of an upgrade though. Lorax 2.0! If you missed last year's Lorax, you can find him here.

And just in case you don't know who Lorax is...

And because Rian feels that it's important to read too... I'm glad she's comfy in our bed with my book!

Yup, she makes herself comfy in our bed all the time! Are you wondering what book you should read next?!?

Rian said this was her husband! She called him Strawberry Randy!!! Randy and I were dying over the Dodger hat!!!

The kids learning about Abraham Lincoln: Rian's pasta log cabin and Rory's Abraham math problems.

Yup Rian, you nailed the 80's look. This is basically what I looked like and dressed like at Rian's age!

When your daddy won't give you attention. Poor Mags!

When your sister makes the best pillow. Love these two girly girls!

Our good friends from Australia made a trip to town to visit us! Yay! And of course it's all fun and games until... someone hands you a sombrero!!! HAHA! We had a blast even if it were for only two days!!!

And since they made this trip solo without their boys, Rory was bummed he didn't get to visit with his buddy, Ethan. That was until he got to FaceTime with him! He was so excited to chat with his mate!!!

He even drew him a picture that his parents brought back to him. It's the two boys waving at each other with the ocean between them.

So the next 5 photos are blurry and some of us are not at our best, but Rian took my phone and photographed each of us. She loves her family!

And since it was International Women's Day last week, I couldn't let the day go by without acknowledging some of the women in my life. Like I said on Instagram, these are just a few, and I'm incredibly lucky to have so many strong, beautiful women in my life. I love you all.

My Nana who is my inspiration for everything in life.

My mom who is my guiding force when I feel lost.

My daughter who was born strong, independent and fierce. (If you don't know her now, you will one day because she is gonna rule this world!)

My mom squad that has become my Vegas family.

My throwback on my Insta-stories!

The kiddos went to a swimming party this past weekend. Thank goodness it was indoors, because it rained all day.

Her face!

Swimming, pizzas and cake...what could be better?!?

Well thanks for stopping by HOH! I hope you all are enjoying your week. It's 75 degrees outside right now and I'm going to go enjoy what's left of this beautiful day. So I'm going to leave you here until next time. As always, thanks for stopping by!
