Oh February!

Hey Everyone!

Well if you read my last post you know that January was really no fun (with the exception of the Mother/Son dance! Yay!!!). And I'd really love to say that February is panning out to be much better, but the truth is...it's not. Don't get me wrong there have been some fun times, so I guess that's where we'll start...

The kiddos were invited to a glow-in-the-dark birthday party to celebrate two little sweet friends!!! By the way, I'm totally in love with this glittery wallpaper.

Seriously, how does Rory look so big in this picture? He looks like he's 12! What?!?

The kids loved the bumper cars!!!

This past weekend they went to bowling birthday party to celebrate two more friends!!!

How cute are Rian's bowling shoes?!? And these were even too big for her.

Well that's one way to eat a cupcake!

We've been watching the olympics and playing with filters!!!

Rian and Randy as the unicorn makes me so happy!!!

Sorry Babe!

See what happens when you try to photobomb! Haha!!!

The closest our kids will get to being on a VHS tape

He's so cute!!! And a good sport! Awe I love him!

And then we prepped for Valentine's Day

We had heart shaped pancakes topped with whipped cream, strawberries and chocolate chips... yum!

And these two refused to move so that I could take a pic of the valentine goodies.

Out to dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants ended with these two getting a Valentine's Day surprise!

Welcome to the family Mitzi the unicorn. Yes Rian named her Mitzi!!!

A little Valentine's Day inspired outfit courtesy of Rian. By the way, she pulled that vest out of her baby clothes. It's size 3-6 months. HAHA!!!

But this is by far her absolute favorite outfit right now.

I just love Rian's letters right now.

She writes her name Rian H. because at school that's how they have taught her to do so. But most of the time she adds a little heart to it. She's always gotta do her own thing!

Practicing letters at home. She calls this her homework.

If you saw my Insta-stories this week, you saw this sweet pic of Maggie sitting with Rory and me as he read out loud. She loves when he reads!

Remember way back at the beginning of the school year when I got the date/day confused for picture day. And I thought we were going to end up with an identical photo of last year? We here is the side-by-side. Thank goodness for a summer tan, a different smile, and a photo filter to help distinguish the two photos! HAHA!

The other morning I walked into my room to find that Rian "made" my bed and invited all her babies to come hang out.

Seriously this is becoming a regular occurrence. Um, yeah...you have your own bed to lounge on!

And well Rory spent the better part of two weeks lounging like this. Remember when I mentioned that February wasn't panning out to be much better than January? Yeah this is why.

So for those of you that don't already know, Rory made his second appearance to the emergency room earlier this month. He had sort of a freak accident at school where he collided with another kid on the playground. He was playing tag with his friends and the other kid (who was bigger) was playing football. Rory was running away from his friend that was "it" and the other kid was running trying to catch the football. Well two kids not looking where they were running and boom! they collided. When I got to school to pick him up, he had a hematoma above his eye the size of a golf ball, his eye was completely covered in a giant bruise and it was swollen shut. So after the school administrators and I decided that an ambulance didn't need to be called (because that's how massive his eye was swelling and at an alarming rate) I rushed him over to urgent care. We were immediately rushed back and two doctors looked at his eye only to determine that they didn't have the  capability to treat him there. Because he could not open his eye at the time, the doctors came to the conclusion that a CT scan was needed to check for fractures or internal damage, which they could not do. And then they had to decide whether or not he needed to be transported to the emergency room by  an ambulance. I ended up rushing Rory to the hospital where the pediatric doctor determined that he in fact needed a CT scan, which showed he had a slight orbital fracture (his eye socket). From there the ENT (ears, nose & throat) specialist needed to weigh in on the fracture to determine whether Rory needed surgery, but he was at a different hospital. So once again for the third time I was having to discuss the option of Rory being transported by ambulance to a hospital. Luckily the ENT specialist decided that no surgery was needed and no ambulance ride! After 6+ long, stressful hours later we were on our way home. All we could do now was just ice his eye and have follow up doctors appointments. Our pedestrian release Rory from school for over a week so that meant he was home for a total of two weeks. Rory continues to show me time and time again that he is the bravest person I know. He handles challenges like this with such composure and calmness. He really is so brave.
So I'm including some pics of his eye below this one. If you are squeamish, I'll leave you with this pic of Rory watching TV, giving a thumbs up. Please feel free to say goodbye here and always thanks for stopping by HOH.

For those that want to see his eye, scroll down...

So one of the most alarming things for me was the size of the hematoma and how much it protruded from his brow bone. I tried to take a pic for Randy (who was home with Rian) to show him, but the pics do not do that hematoma justice.

A couple of days later he finally could open it a little bit.

Little by little it got a better...

During his time off of school, the kiddos got in some quality time. I came downstairs one morning to find that Rory was reading to Rian.

But just because you're off of school doesn't mean you're on vacation. Rory had plenty of school work to keep him busy. I love this series of pics of them working side-by-side.

He’s eye is looking good and he is one happy boy to not have to constantly have to ice his eye!!!

Rory is back at school this week and he's doing great. Rian back to missing him during the day. Well that is it for now. Thanks for sticking it out to the end of this one. HAHA!
