Rounding Up January

Hello!

Today I'm sharing a round up of our January. To be honest, this first month of 2018 was spent "adulting" more than usual, which left little time for the fun stuff. *sigh*

I did managed to get a new family photo printed, framed and hung within a few weeks of taking the photo, which is a first! So that's a win for January and when there aren't a lot of them you've got to celebrate even the tiniest ones! HAHA!!! By the way, thank you Alyson for the beautiful photo! :0)

The kiddos on the other hand had a great month. Yippy!!!

After being off for the first week for winter break, Rory returned back to school just in time for the first semester to end. We are so very proud of all the hard work Rory has put into his school work, homework and reading this semester. I know that with some kids, getting good grades comes super easy for them. But for Rory, he has to work a little harder and this year he's finally finding his "groove" with school. He loves school and I love that he loves school.

So a trip to the Lego store was in order to celebrate a great report card!!! (More on Rian in a minute!)

Sorry for the shadow-y pic, but I just had to share Rory's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (And Rory refers to Dr. King in his full name, always, every single time.) I just love his eyebrows and mustache. :0)

Rory's been helping out at one of our friends' house lately. He loves to help work on the cars and work in the garage! For the times you need a miniature size you and shrinking yourself is just not an option...

Rory and I had a date to the Mother/Son Dance last Friday. This is one of my favorite things in the whole world. Rory is one of the kindest, if not the kindest person I know and he made me feel so special at the dance. During the "mother" dances, Rory never acted embarrassed to slow dance with me. He always tells me he loves me and hugs me tight while we dance. I know that one day another little girl will take my place on the dance floor, but until then I will gladly be his date!

Rian is also doing well at school, really well in fact. She loves her teacher and every morning asks if it's time to go to school. She made it to the school bulletin board. While her class and many other classes were on the board, Rian is the only one with an individual photo! Can you tell what the board is about? I'm pretty sure the Santa hat is a dead give away!!!

I love the way she draws people and the way she writes her name.

Because Rian is doing so well in school and always comes home with an excellent weekly report, she too got to go to the Lego store!

Playing with Insta-stories filters are still her favorite!

And while her Daddy and brother get to work on cars, she gets to go on an ice cream date with me! A little side note: Rian is OBSESSED with her baby dolls. And while "Josie" pictured here is her current favorite, she totes around a total of 8 dolls everywhere she goes. (She was allowed to take only one baby inside to get ice cream. Haha!)

If you think this is a picture of Maggie falling between two pillows, think again. It's just her taking a nap. How is that even comfortable?!?

And while we are on the subject of comfortable sleeping positions: I took this pic at 2:45 in the morning. Both Randy and myself were pushed to the edge, while these two slept like babies, spoiled babies!!! I finally gave up and slept on the couch in our room.

So if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I started the BBG workout this month. And while I was super excited to start the January challenge, I have to admit that I hated this workout. If you aren't familiar with this particular workout, it's a 12 week program that shows great results. I found that it's incredibly hard both mentally and physically. And that wasn't the reason why I hated it. I hated it because I found that the workouts were broken into certain body areas and I prefer to do a total body workout versus certain areas. But what really was the killer was that the leg workouts had a mix of exercises that I liked and did not liked, the arms & abs had more exercises that I did not like, but the total body exercises were a combination of ALL the exercises I hated doing from the other two workouts. So what was happening was I was putting off the workouts because I was dreading them and then ultimately not doing them all together. So after two weeks I decided to go back to another workout regimen that I put together in the past. And I'm actually looking forward to my daily workouts again! So for anyone that has completed the BBG workouts: Kudos to you! I have a whole new respect for you!!!

Dear January,

Thanks for stopping by, but it's time for you to go! February is on it's way and it's promising us a much better time than you gave us!!! You've got 11 months to think about what you did and change your behavior. We hope when you come back that you will be nicer to us.

Thank you,

The Harringtons

Thanks for dropping by HOH! I hope you have a great week and are looking forward to February as much as I am!!!

Hello 2018

Good Morning!

I'm not sure what the weather is like where you are, but here it poured all night. We woke up to one of our trees slumped over all the way to the ground. Thankfully it's still rooted and intact. Randy said it's just saturated with water. And the rain didn't help with dropping Rory off this morning, it was insane. The line went out of the school parking lot, down the street and was stopped on the main cross street. So I've decided that I'm staying in and I'm sharing our New Year's Eve, along with some of my goals for this year.

New Year's Eve was pretty low key for us (just the way we like it!). Our dogs don't do well with fireworks, so I don't like to leave them home alone when I know there will be sounds of pops and booms all evening. So if Maggie insists on being glued to my lap, I'm going to have a little fun with her and Insta-stories' NYE filters. HAHA!

Maggie may not have been thrilled, but the kiddos loved it!

Chicken pot pies and cheesy mashed potatoes for our last dinner of 2017! Yum Yum!

Yup the pups hiding under a blanket, snuggled together.

Sparkling apple cider to ring in the new year!

Happy New Year!!!

So with every new year, this year brings a feeling of renewal and focus. The main aspect of my life I want to concentrate on this year is my health. And I mean really focus on taking care of myself. As a mom, like many moms, I've spent many years sleep deprived and stressed. And unfortunately, this has caught up with me and has been reeking havoc on my body for the last couple of years. I've decided that enough is enough and I've started implanting a daily regiment that is geared to helping my body heal from years of destructive sleep (and eating) habits. And although I know eating clean would help immensely, I also know that it will take time for me to adjust to that type of meal plan. So I'm starting with baby steps: for now I've just decided to cook more and eat out less, and to drink more water. For me dehydration is just as damaging to my body as sleep deprivation, so I need to make a conscience effort to reach my daily water goal of 70-80 oz.

I have a lot to be thankful for and so many blessing in my life that I want to mindful of them and present to enjoy them.

And with that I wish you a very happy and healthy 2018!!! I can't wait to see what it brings!

Christmas 2017

We arrived home on Christmas Eve just in time to unpack the car, get in to jammies and for Rian to fall asleep. So Rory took over the Christmas Eve to-do list: setting out twinkies, ding dongs and egg nog for Santa (because milk and cookies gets old by the time he gets to our house), carrots for the reindeer and making sure Ralphie was ready to go back to the North Pole. He was all set for Santa to pick him up after he delivered gifts for the kids.

Rory doing his happy dance after Santa delivered the one item he asked for...along with electric scooters for the kids.

Santa also brought Rian the Batgirl Truck she has had her heart set on.

Rian's gift to Rory that she wrote herself. She said it didn't need a bow.

Rory's gift to Rian. He thoughtfully picked out a gift for her, wrote her name and picked out a bow.

This made my whole Christmas!!!

Yup even our doggie's give gifts.

Maggie: mid yawn or protecting her daddy!?! HAHA!

He's ready to try out his new toy!

I hope you all enjoyed your holiday season.  I know we did. After all the hustle and bustle of prepping for Christmas, it was ALL worth it!
