I know I've been MIA from the blog this month, but September has been a little challenging as well as being really great. We've had many moments of praying mixed in with moments of Legos getting stuck in someone's tiny nose. There have been moments of coming together and reaching out combined with moments of after bath dance parties. We've had a lot of answered prayers for family and friends this month, and that makes everything else that much more beautiful. Life has a funny way like that sometimes. So with that being said, this post really should have been more like three posts. But you know what that means... Yup, lots and lots of photos! By the way, if you follow me on Instagram and have seen my Insta-stories lately, some of this will be a repeat. OK now that I have declared all my disclaimers, I can get started. HAHA!
So lets get going with all the randomness of September...
Rian could not be happier being a kitty! She's so pretty!!!
And Rory, I asked him to take a picture before we headed out to school, and he asked why? Because for some reason he looked so much older than he did the day before. Insert sigh
Just because she makes running mundane errands so much better.
Car dancing at school pick up. My tiny dancer!
My entire heart!
Effortlessly beautiful.
Sorry kiddo, but you are definitely my kid!
Yup!
Silly selfie.
I woke up from a nap to this!
So chic,
Half selfie/Half photo bomb
Freckle faces
When life is just that good!
My oldest baby :0)
And my youngest baby.
Napping hard...
Napping expert.
Professional napper.
Group nappers.
Pinkie Pie ponytail for school.
Anna braids
This is actually the Anna braids, one braid is hiding. But this looks like the braid-to-one-side Elsa braid hairstyle. HAHA!
Because I've learned that there's no point in having a hairstyle if it isn't named after a character.
Movie time!!! We took the kiddos to a couple of movies this month, and I'm quickly learning that Rian doesn't really like to go to the movies. I think she's uncomfortable being in a dark room and the movie being so loud. She sits fine before the movie, during the movie trivia, but as soon as the lights down, she's done. The let's go home start. We managed to make it through Despicable Me 3 and The Lego Ninjago Movie. Both were ok. Both kids enjoyed DM3 (It was better than DM2!), Rory loved Ninjago, Rian hated it!
The kids love the arcade next to the movie theater.
Mario Kart!!!
Rian needs to work on her driving skills!
However, she came in 1st place!!! How cute is she as Wario?!?
We can't wait for this! One of my favorites is when Disney Junior airs Boo For You Halloween during the month of October. So I'm just as excited as Rian is.
OK huge photo fail on my part! Part of another movie display looks like it's going to stab Rian in the head. Oops! HAHA!
Speaking of photo fail on my part... Again, if you follow me on Insta-stories you know this was huge, even monumental. So Rory's school pictures were scheduled for what I thought was Friday, September 14th. Great. So I was feeling pretty awesome about this, I picked out a photo package weeks before when the first reminder came home, the check was in the payment envelope and in Rory's backpack days before picture day, I had planned to get him a new shirt the day before picture day and then go take him to get a much needed haircut right after school so that we could minimize the chances of "recess hair" that he had for last year's pictures. Yup, I've got this! Nooooo, I do not! So we are in the car about to get into the drop off line at school on Thursday, September 14th, when Rory asked if we have plans after school. I inform him that he's getting his haircut for pictures tomorrow. His response...
"Picture day is today!"
"No. It's tomorrow, the 14th!"
"Today is the 14th! See, look mom, I put on a nice shirt and I gelled my hair."
I looked in my rear view mirror to see that he was in fact wearing a nice shirt, the same shirt he wore for last year's pictures. The same nice shirt he has wore for every nice event for the last 365 days. And his nicely combed and gelled hair was beginning to dry and stiffen under his Minecraft cap and as he ripped his cap off his head to show me his picture ready hair, random chucks of his hair wept up. By now we are in the drop off line in front of school where there is no parking allowed. So I proceed to instructed him in fixing his hair while maneuvering the drop off line, only to get to the front on the line and have the car door open and Rory say goodbye. So I can only imagine we are going to get his 1st grade photo on repeat this year. Maybe the background will be different.
1st Grade This year
Randy and I have had conversations over the years about September 11th and have both wondered how our kids would begin to learn about that awful day and what it meant to our country. You know besides the simple version of "there were some bad people, that did some bad things, and it made everyone sad" that we had told them (mostly Rory) throughout the years as they would see ceremonies on the news and flags flying half-staff on the anniversary. So I was surprised to learn that September 11th is referred to Patriot Day. Randy was taken back by the idea that a second grader would learn about the tragic events of that day. So we asked Rory what Patriot Day was. He said he learned about firemen, policemen, paramedics and military people helping one other.
Rian came home from school that day with a folded paper plate that had small pieces inside. I thought it was some sort of instrument. So I ask her, "Rian what is this?" "It's a plate!" I still have no idea what it is. :0)
I love seeing her school work. She's doing so well.
So I'm going back to school and last week I had to go onto to campus to meet with a counselor to finalize my education path. Later that afternoon we were talking about our day, and Rory asked if I was going back to school. I told him yes that I was and his reaction was, "THAT'S GREAT!" Seriously, the best thing I ever heard was my 7 year old cheering me on!
Yay! But wait... After meeting with the counselor, it turns out that somehow my math credits disappeared!
So my transcripts arrived, however, I can't open them. If I unseal them, they are no longer considered "official" and my school will not accept them. So I have to wait 6-8 weeks for the evaluation to come back. Hey Amie, this is why you should've gotten your sh** done like 15 years ago. Because going to school with responsibilities and kids is so much easier than when you're living at home with your parents! Insert head shake and eye roll.
All right, so this is seriously one of my favorites right now. Warm, oowey-goowey rice krispie treats. And it's super easy and kid friendly, so Rory likes to help me!
Our weather has been all over the place this month and Rory (yes Rory) took a few photos of a crazy lightning storm we had while we were driving home one night. By the way, I could totally see Rory going into photography. He was so proud of these pics, and asked if I would post them on my Instagram. He loved hearing all the comments from people.
And well we are ready for Halloween! I want to add a few strands of green lights on the bushes and get a projector for the second story windows, but I love that the yard is all lit up!!!
The left side of the porch
And the right side.
And our beloved pumpkin patch opens tomorrow. We are so excited! We've watched it come together over the past few weeks and our excitement grows everyday!!!
We took the kiddos to the Halloween store a couple of weeks ago...
So he can wear the mask, but a photo of this cartoon on YouTube freaks him out?!? Kids!
The Maggie emoji!
That is one weird looking Gru. I'm just saying!
Even Target got dressed up!
Target has the best soft green pumpkins right now that match perfectly with my dinning room. I've been wanting something like this for a long time. Not bad for Dollar Spot!
Love, love, love!!!
And these little guys, also from Target's Dollar Spot, go perfectly in my living room...
...and also on my entry table.
And I'll leave you with these two cuties!!!
Thanks for stopping by! I promise I'll be back to regular blogging starting next month so that you aren't bombarded with 70 photos in one post!!! Love you all!
xoxo
