Hello Friday! Today we're going to take a stroll down memory lane for Flashback Friday, but I'll get to that in just a second. First I want to share with everyone a little summer field trip that the kids and I took. Last week we played tourists with some friends of ours and paid a visit to The Flamingo Hotel to explore the tropical-like gardens and the animals that inhabit them.
First up the flamingos!
I love this shot of all the kiddos watching the pink birds
Umm, Mommy? I dont care what the sign said, I don't see any turtles!
There they are!
Where?
Over there on the tiny island!
I see you little duckie
Look at all the koi fish!
I don't know why my mommy won't let me climb on the rocks or go into the water.
Hey Rian?!?
Yeah?!?
The High Roller
I bought the kids each a flamingo to mark the occasion. I told you we played tourists. But let me say that it's impossible to find a flamingo suited for a boy. Anyway, Rory and Rian each took home one of these-the least flashy flamingo I could find.
This is Frannie, Rian's new friend. She went to swim lessons with us later that day. How's Rory's form, Frannie?
She even made a visit during nap time- snuggling with Rian...
...and with Pinky
So where does the flashback fit into this whole thing? Well, remember the Linq Promenade with the yummy ice cream, pretty fountain, gorilla graffiti, and giant ferris wheel? Way back in the day, like 10, 11, 12 years ago the promenade was a back alley way to various avenues and shortcuts used by taxis, hotel employees, delivery trucks, and occasionally us. Randy and I would take this shortcut between the hotels to our apartment. This past June marked the ten year anniversary of us moving out of our first place together. As we were walking back to the car, I noticed our apartment complex just on the other side of the parking lot and couldn't resist taking a photo.
I have so many great memories of our time in that apartment, but my favorite has to be my 23rd birthday. It was the first birthday I had here in Vegas. Although I love my birthday, and I had settled into life here with a new job and friends, I was a little sad that I wouldn't be celebrating with my family and friends in Cali. At the time I worked for a mortgage company and had to be at work pretty early in the morning and like now, Randy worked nights. We were two ships passing in the night and so there were no birthday plans set. The morning of my birthday I woke up and got ready for work and as I opened our bedroom door to head into the living room, I was bombarded by streamers and balloons. Randy was waiting in our living room- he had adorned our bedroom doorway and living room with birthday decorations. To this day I can't think of a better way to start a birthday!!!
I hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend!
xoxo
