Chalkboard Project

As you all know I jumped on the chalkboard bandwagon when I found out I was pregnant with Rian to track all the ins and outs of the pregnancy. And although I haven't used the chalkboard as often as I once did or as much as I'd like to, for that matter, I love drawing on it and finding new ways to use it. So in an effort to change up our front porch for the holiday season I came up with this...

I took a small outdoor table that was floating around the backyard with no real purpose and gave it a much needed facelift and a new home.

I started this little project off by giving the table a quick, light sanding. I then applied a few thin coats of Rustolium chalkboard paint with a large sponge brush. I find that chalkboard paint goes on smoother when I use a sponge brush. Roller brushes and paint brushes tend to leave marks, at least when I use them.

I let the table dry overnight even though I don't think it needed no more than a half an hour or so. The next morning I arranged some pumpkins on it, including the one that Rory painted, along with the H (for Harrington, although I guess it could stand for Halloween too). Then I went to work on my Halloween message... a fun twist on an old favorite!

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the holidays as much as we are! Happy Friday!!!
